Reverb10

I saw this on my friend Emily’s blog ( http://www.skinnyemmie.com) today: “I’m participating in #reverb10, an annual event and online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next. Each day will have different prompts and my challenge is to respond to each one. Want to learn more? http://www.reverb10.com/

Emily always has something great going on, so I thought I’d join her on this. Here goes–My Reverb10 Journey starts now:

December 1 One Word.
Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?

Okay, this is an easy one. The word is Change. The most obvious, and biggest change for me this year was returning to work full-time. Being a part-time freelance writer and full-time stay at home Mom for the last 6 years is something I will never regret. It was an awesome experience that I feel so blessed to have had, thanks to John’s support and commitment to what we both value.

But with all the kids in school, I was ready for a change. I was ready to take a new path, similar to a path I went down once before (working outside the home), and yet very different this time around. I love working for my alma mater–love, love, love!  In terms of making a change, I could not have chosen better.

So if this is the year of change, what will 2011 bring? I’m hoping next year’s summary word is Return. I’d like to return to my old stomping grounds, closer to downtown, campus and my favorite places in Lexington. I’d like to return to a smaller house, located where I can walk to my bank, my favorite grocery, coffee shop, and my sister’s house. It would be more than a return to a favorite neighborhood–it would be a return to a simpler life.

What about you? What’s your word for 2010? What do you hope for in the New Year?

  2. Yay, so glad you’re participating! I love your idea of 2011 for Return. That is such a great sentiment and goal to strive for.
